Quinceaneras

What is a Quinceanera?

The Quinceañera celebration in church is a religious ceremony. The young lady thanks God for her life and renews her baptismal promise, dedicates herself to Christ and makes a commitment to live as an active member of His Church. Those who participate in the ceremony support and bear witness to this dedication. Emphasis is to be placed on the religious meaning of the ceremony, and excessive concern over external details is to be avoided. Also to be avoided are expenses which create an elitist atmosphere of wealth.

What do I need to celebrate my Quinceanera?

Quinceañeras are celebrated on the last Saturday of each month in the church at 11:00am in community with other young ladies who have received their First Holy Communion. If a young lady wishes to have a “private ceremony” she may do so on a Saturday in the chapel at 12:00 pm when space is available.

Blessing for Quinceañas are reserved for young ladies who have not received the sacrament of First Holy Communion and are scheduled on the first and third Saturday of the month at 10am in the chapel. Blessing are only available in the chapel. These will be private ceremonies.

How do I prepare for my QuinceaNera?

In order to reserve the chapel or the church for your quinceañera you must first attend one quinceañera retreat. Young ladies under the age of 14 are not able to register for the retreat. Once you have completed the retreat you will be able to book the date of your choosing, as long as it is available. To register for the retreat you need to call 559 674-9069 to receive more information. There is a non refundable fee of $50.00 for the retreat. No registrations the day of the retreat, you must register at least a week in advance. Young girls must be at least 14 years old in order to participate in the retreat. Retreat dates can be changed if we don’t have a group of at least 12 young ladies to participate in retreat.
