The Sacristy is located on the South West corner of church with its entrance facing the parking lot. From left to right, the three skulls represent a bishop, a pope and a priest. The latin inscription says, "Thus ends the glory of this world." Skull displays were quite common in the past, especially during the Middle Ages, and were intended to remind Christians of the brevity of earthly life. Here in the sacristy where priests vest for the liturgical services, the three skulls are a quiet, powerful reminder to the clergy of the futility of this world's glory and prestige. Death does not discriminate between priests and laymen. It comes for everybody, sooner or later, and no power and no power on earth, not even the ministers of God, can keep death away. Thus, the three skulls provide a somber last meditation for a priest who prepares for the celebration of the Holy Eucharist and for the preaching of the Word of God to his people.
